Mike Kavanaugh's career spans more than four decades of engineering, designing, and manufacturing specialized equipment used in demanding applications around the world. Since 1979, he has developed innovative equipment and production systems for emerging industries, earning a reputation for practical engineering and real-world problem solving. As a founding member of a world-class specialty construction company, Mike helped develop projects for zoos, aquariums, theme parks, casinos, and resorts worldwide. During that time, he pioneered applications for advanced materials including GFRC, GFRG, UHPC, urethanes, polyesters, silicones, and AR and PVA fiber-reinforced systems—often adapting these materials for uses never before attempted. Mike also worked as a Special Effects Technician on 23 major motion pictures, numerous music videos, and television commercials, bringing the same engineering creativity and precision to the entertainment industry. One material, however, captured his attention from the beginning—Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). After working with it for the first time in 1979, Mike predicted, "This is going to be the Play-Dough of the concrete industry." Over the following decades, that prediction proved remarkably accurate. For more than 47 years, he has continued advancing GFRC technology for residential and commercial construction, including engineering manufacturing facilities capable of producing two prefabricated homes per day.
